Zimbabwe Youth Day Stuns Critics and Stokes National Fury

Today, people in Zimbabwe celebrate their young people. The special day helps everyone remember how important young citizens are for making the country better. The day happens every year on February 21.

President Mnangagwa will meet with many young people in Bulawayo. More than 20,000 young people from all over Zimbabwe will attend. Other countries, like Kenya and South Africa, sent their leaders to join the celebration. The government wants to spend 1.6 million dollars to make this day special.

Most of Zimbabwe's population—more than half—are young. The government wants to help them learn new computer skills. It plans to teach these skills to 1.5 million young people across Zimbabwe.

The leaders want young people to avoid bad things like drugs. They believe young citizens need to learn about their country's past, including the brave people who fought to make Zimbabwe free. The leaders think knowing this history will help young people love their country more.

The government started special programs to help young people make money through business. They want young citizens to learn useful skills. These programs keep young people busy doing good things instead of harmful ones.

Last year, President Mnangagwa talked to young people in Masvingo. He told them about Robert Mugabe and other brave young people who helped make Zimbabwe free. He asked the young people to help build their country. He said it belongs to them, and they must make it better.

The government wants young people to feel proud of Zimbabwe. They want them to vote, protect their country, and help make it stronger. Young people should remember others fought hard to give them the good things they have today.
