Zimbabwe to Issue 2,500 Land Reform Title Deeds by March.
Zimbabwe will give title deeds to 2,500 land reform beneficiaries by March. This is part of a plan to prevent people from owning many farms, make it easier for families to inherit land, and let farmers who want to leave farming sell their land.
President Mnangagwa started the new land ownership system in December 2024. In total, 23,000 A2 farmers and 280,000 A1 farmers will get full ownership. So far, 13,000 farms have been approved for title deeds.
Obert Jiri is a top official in the Lands Ministry. He said they are working hard to give out the title deeds. They are making sure the list of people getting deeds is correct.
Farmers with 99-year leases can easily get their title deeds. "We are printing the deeds for the first 2,500," Jiri said.
Dr. Anxious Masuka is the Lands Minister. He said only one person or a married couple can have a title deed, which will prevent people from owning many farms.
"The new titles will help farmers get loans for their work," he said. "They will also make it easier for families to pass down land."
Masuka said farmers who want to leave can sell their land to other Zimbabweans. This gives them a way to get back the money they invested.
He said giving out the title deeds is "automatic." They use a database to check who owns the land.
