Zimbabwe’s election machinery is getting a major reshuffle, with ZEC preparing to hand off some of its biggest behind-the-scenes duties. The commission said new constitutional changes move voter registration and voter roll management to the Registrar-General.
Boundary work is also shifting away from ZEC, with the Delimitation Commission taking responsibility for constituencies and ward boundaries. ZEC said discussions with the Justice Ministry are underway to create the rules guiding the transfer.
The commission stressed it will keep handling elections, referendums, ballot operations, voter education, observer accreditation, and public complaints. Officials said the transition will happen through a structured process while ZEC continues its remaining responsibilities.
