10 Killed as Fuel Tanker Flattens Nissan Van

A deadly crash happened Tuesday morning around 11 a.m. near the Sebakwe River outside Kwekwe city. A fuel truck hit a large lorry first and caused minor damage to that vehicle. The truck driver could not control his vehicle when approaching a sharp turn on Harare Road. His tanker rolled over and crushed a small passenger van underneath its weight. About 10 people died when the heavy truck landed on their vehicle.

The passenger van worked as a taxi service between Kwekwe and Indarama towns. Everyone inside the van died immediately from the crushing impact of the overturned tanker. Witnesses described the accident scene as terrible and frightening for everyone who saw it. Fuel began leaking from the damaged truck, creating serious explosion dangers. Emergency workers prevented any fires from starting at the crash site.

Police officers will identify all victims before releasing their names to families and the media. The lorry driver survived with small cuts and bruises from the first collision. His vehicle received minor damage compared to the destruction of the passenger van. Officials continue investigating what caused the fuel truck driver to lose control. The accident blocked traffic along the busy Harare Road for several hours.
