AMD driver unlocks Meta's Llama 4 Scout on Ryzen AI MAX+ 395

AMD released its Adrenalin Edition 25.8.1 WHQL driver that transforms consumer computers into powerful AI machines. The software update enables Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processors to handle massive language models through Flash Attention technology and 8-bit KV cache systems. Users can process sequences containing 256,000 tokens while accessing 96 GB of video memory through Variable Graphics Memory features. The combination allows standard PCs with 128 GB system memory to operate Meta's Llama 4 Scout 109B model locally. This development eliminates the need for expensive cloud computing services.

The Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor contains 16 cores with 32 processing threads that reach 5.1 GHz speeds. AMD equipped the chip with 80 MB of shared cache memory and 40 RDNA 3.5 graphics units called Radeon 8060S. The processor operates between 45 and 120 watts, depending on system requirements. Compatible devices from ASUS, Corsair, Framework, and HP can run advanced AI applications directly on desktop hardware. Researchers gain complete control over their experiments while maintaining data privacy through local processing capabilities.
