Bangladesh Awami League calls Dhaka jails hell under Yunus

Bangladesh's opposition Awami League accused the interim administration under Muhammad Yunus of systematic persecution against party members on Monday. The political organization claims government forces subject detained leaders and supporters to brutal treatment within correctional facilities. Women activists face particularly harsh conditions according to party officials who describe extreme violence and psychological torment. Prison authorities allegedly manufacture false legal proceedings against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and various party representatives at multiple organizational levels. Guard personnel reportedly collaborate with inmates to intensify abuse when detainees attempt communication with facility administrators.

The opposition movement previously demanded transparent investigations regarding 24 members who died while under state custody since the current government assumed control. Party representatives called upon global human rights groups and international observers to examine these alleged fatalities. Awami League officials characterize the interim leadership as an illegitimate regime that employs torture and fabricated charges to silence political opposition. The organization maintains that documented abuse cases will provoke widespread public condemnation against what they term authoritarian governance practices.
