Bangladesh officials grilled by US in closed Washington DC talks

Bangladesh and America wrapped up serious trade talks in Washington DC after a full day of tough negotiations. Chief Adviser Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder told reporters the discussions covered nearly every major trade issue between both countries. The first day of meetings tackled complex tariff problems that affect millions of workers and businesses. Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin flew to the American capital to lead the Bangladesh team during these important talks. National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman joined the meeting through video calls from Dhaka along with ICT expert Faiz Ahmed Tayeb. Senior officials from the Bangladesh Commerce Ministry also attended the Washington meetings. American representatives came from agriculture, energy, commerce and copyright departments for the negotiations. The talks represent the second round of tariff discussions between the two nations.

Both sides brought their top trade experts to hammer out deals that could change business relationships for years. The comprehensive nature of the talks suggests both countries want to solve major trade disputes quickly.
