Dreamliner Nightmare Hits Air India Flight

Boeing reached one billion passengers on its 787 Dreamliner plane last month. The aircraft company built a strong safety record over 14 years of service. An Air India crash happened in Ahmedabad during recent days. The 787 Dreamliner differs from the 737 Max planes that crashed earlier. Investigators must examine black box data to find crash causes.

The 737 Max planes killed hundreds of people during 2018 and 2019 accidents. Software problems caused those deadly incidents around the world. Officials grounded all 737 Max aircraft for 18 months after the crashes. Pilots say manufacturer defects rarely cause modern airplane accidents. Human mistakes account for most aviation disasters today.

Chief executive Kelly Ortberg expressed sympathy for crash victims and families. Boeing shares fell nearly five percent after markets closed Thursday. The company lost almost one billion dollars monthly last year. Workers went on strike for seven weeks during 2024. Boeing paid 160 million dollars after a door flew off an Alaska Airlines flight.
