Forson backs teacher housing and infirmary upgrade

Ghana Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson promised money from the Ghana Education Trust Fund to build housing for teachers at Swedru Secondary School. He made this pledge during his visit as the main speaker at the school's 66th birthday celebration yesterday. The headmistress had told him about their serious housing problem for staff members. Dr. Forson said he heard her concerns clearly and would talk directly with GETFund officials to finish the teacher apartments.

Dr. Forson plans to help the school health center as well. He promised his personal cash would completely fix up the school clinic. The minister said he would buy new beds and medical gear for students who need health care. His promises came as part of his speech to everyone at the anniversary event.

The Finance Minister talked straight to the students about making school their priority. He stressed how good grades open doors later in life. Dr. Forson explained that studying hard helps students create better futures for themselves. He added that education allows young people to make positive contributions to their country after graduation.
