Rigathi Gachagua wants everyone from Mt Kenya to show up at President Ruto's public meetings during his upcoming three-day visit. The former Deputy President shared this message Saturday at a church event in Naivasha. He told locals they should demand good payment if anyone offers cash to attend these rallies. "President Ruto, prepare your money because we elected you for free," Gachagua stated during Reverend Harrison Munyua's installation ceremony.
The President plans to tour this important voting area starting April 1. Many political watchers see this trip as Ruto's attempt to rebuild connections with local voters after his relationship with Gachagua fell apart. The former deputy claimed Ruto would bring benefits to the region and encouraged people to accept these offerings completely. He stopped briefly in Naivasha town, where he greeted residents with, "Thank you very much, people of Naivasha!"
Gachagua also responded to recent comments from military leader General Charles Kahariri about political chants. The general had warned against slogans calling for removing leaders through non-democratic means. He stressed that leadership changes must happen through constitutional methods, saying Kenya cannot allow chaos. Gachagua described these chants as simply an early preparation for the next national elections in 2027.
