ArenaNet has announced Guild Wars Reforged, an enhanced edition of the 2005 MMORPG that attracted more than nine million players who collectively spent over a billion hours exploring Tyria. The updated release arrives through a partnership with 2weeks, a studio established by former ArenaNet personnel, including co-founder Brandon Dillon, who worked on the original title as a teenager alongside the franchise creators.
The remastered version introduces controller compatibility and Steam Deck verification alongside visual upgrades, including high-DPI display support, refreshed skill icons, improved antialiasing, ambient occlusion, enhanced bloom effects, additional font sizing options, upgraded environmental audio, and a quest tracking system. Game Director Stephen Clarke-Willson indicated the modifications aim to preserve the experience for the dedicated community while attracting newcomers to the fantasy realm.
Current owners receive the update without charge, while new purchasers can acquire the complete package with all three expansions for $19.99 through Steam or Windows platforms.
