Gweru doctor, three others held in drug case

A 49-year-old medical doctor and three other individuals have been charged in Gweru Magistrates' Court with possession of dangerous drugs. The accused, identified as Farikai Manjeya, Tafara Chigoya, Kudakwashe Godknows Mutata, and Tariro Pambwa, were arrested after a police search of a doctor's cottage. Authorities reportedly found the group smoking crystal meth with J-pipes and a lighter.

Prosecutors stated that investigators acted on a tip about suspected drug activity at the residence. Law enforcement seized the drug paraphernalia and an empty sachet as evidence.

Following their arrest, the four were remanded into custody. The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe encouraged public cooperation with police to report drug use and protect communities. A bail hearing for the group is pending.
