Israel and Iran Brace for Escalation Amid Growing Tensions

Israel and Iran keep fighting each other through missile attacks and military strikes. Israel claims the conflict has just started but Iran wants to find a way out of the war. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told foreign diplomats his country will stop attacking if Israel stops first. He said Iran only defends itself against violence that was forced on them. SVT reporter Stina Blomgren believes Iran seeks an exit from the dangerous situation.

Iran appears much weaker after recent Israeli attacks on military bases and nuclear sites. Hezbollah stays quiet instead of threatening Israel like they usually do when Iran faces pressure. The Iranian government feels extremely threatened right now according to Blomgren. Iran had peace talks with America about nuclear programs during spring but those discussions stopped. Both America and Israel refuse to let Iran develop nuclear weapons.

Netanyahu changed his message from stopping nuclear bombs to supporting Iranian protesters who want regime change. Israeli forces attacked three nuclear facilities and killed about ten Iranian scientists. Recent strikes also hit oil fields and defense ministry buildings. Israel needs American bunker bombs to destroy underground nuclear sites hundreds of meters deep.
