Mahama Warns Appointees Against Looting Resources

Ghana's Leader Warns Officials Against Taking State Money.

President John Dramani Mahama told his team they must not steal from the nation during his Central Region visit on Thursday, February 6.

His warning came as he discussed Operation Recover All Loots, a plan that examines what past leaders did with public funds. Mahama said his people must follow the same rules.

"We will give rules to people in power," Mahama said. He stressed that his team would watch both past and present officials. They all need to show how they use state money.

The search for missing money goes both ways. The president wants to ensure that no one takes what belongs to the nation, including members of his own team.

A special group has investigated past acts. They will present their findings to Mahama next week. He plans to send them to state offices that can take action.

"The group will bring their work to me next week," Mahama said. He added that other state groups would then start looking at people who might have taken public money.

The president wants to make things right. His plan aims to stop anyone from taking what belongs to all Ghanaians.
