President Yoweri Museveni promised big road and power projects for Sembabule District during a campaign stop. Speaking as the National Resistance Movement candidate for the next national election, he told a large rally about infrastructure plans. He mentioned extending tarmac roads to connect the area, including upgrades to the Sembabule to Mateete route and work on the historic Lusalira to Ntuusi road. He also pledged to address electricity access and fix salty water issues by using the River Katonga.
Museveni credited the long period of national peace to his party's approach of ignoring religion and tribe in politics. He argued that this built strong national institutions like the army and courts. On local development, he pointed out that the district has many government primary schools but needs a fairer spread across its parishes. He announced plans to upgrade several small health centers and build new ones in specific sub-counties. He insisted, however, that roads and peace alone do not create wealth for families.
The president pushed his model for household farming, telling people to use land for cash crops, food, and livestock instead of free-range grazing. He pointed to examples like a Nakaseke farmer making millions from milk. Large screens at the rally showed videos of successful farmers following these methods. He dismissed the idea of enough government jobs for everyone, saying real employment comes from private business in agriculture, factories, services, and technology.
