Mutsvangwa takes a jab at Chiwenga's leadership

A UK group called Dug Up found a secret tape of ZANU PF official Christopher Mutsvangwa badmouthing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. He attacked Chiwenga harshly, saying he acts cruel to others, cannot win elections, lacks education, and mixes up R and L sounds when speaking. The recording shows big fights happening between different groups inside ZANU PF, mainly between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, who serves under him.

Mutsvangwa claims Mnangagwa and Chiwenga disagree about the upcoming party voting event. Chiwenga wants party members to just pick him as their next leader without competition, while Mnangagwa prefers letting several people run for the job through fair voting. These power fights happen because, according to law, Mnangagwa must leave office by 2028. Despite what party members decided last year about keeping him longer, Mnangagwa stated publicly that he plans to respect legal term limits.

Mutsvangwa talked about how Chiwenga treats his former wife, Marry Mubaiwa, terribly. She lost an arm and leg from severe lymphoedema disease. Courts accused her of trying to kill Chiwenga during his hospital stay in South Africa. For three years, the courts kept her passport, preventing her from getting medical help abroad. Chiwenga also blocks her from seeing their children. Mutsvangwa pointed out that women make up half the voters, and they notice how Chiwenga treats his ex-wife.

Despite Chiwenga claiming he earned a PhD in Ethics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Mutsvangwa says he cannot read well. Mutsvangwa explained that you can test if Shona speakers went to school by asking them to say words with the letter L. He claimed mothers teach the R sound, but teachers teach L sounds. According to Mutsvangwa, Chiwenga never learned beyond what his mother taught him. Mutsvangwa added that fighting in wars does not excuse a lack of education since many fighters came from universities.
