National Bank of Malawi has provided 84 new desks valued at 15 million kwacha to Namitambo Primary School in Chiradzulu. This donation addresses a critical shortage that has forced many pupils to sit on the floor during lessons.
A National Bank representative, Chatsala, stated that the initiative aimed to restore learner dignity, noting that girls previously found it difficult to participate in class. School Head Teacher Charles Majawa confirmed the desks would alleviate seating problems, especially during examinations for the zone's large student population. The school enrolls 1,221 learners.
Chiradzulu District Commissioner Francis Matewele commended the bank for its timely intervention. He said the corporate social responsibility project had a significant impact on the junior classes, creating a more comfortable environment for children to pursue their education.
