Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami members have returned Dr. Shafiqur Rahman to leadership for another term running from 2026 through 2028, the organization reported on Sunday. Party officials conducted the leadership vote through confidential balloting among registered Rukon members nationwide between October 9 and October 25.
Maulana ATM Masum, who holds positions as Chief Election Commissioner and Assistant Secretary General, revealed the outcome on Saturday evening after designated teams finished tallying results. Rahman secured more support than any rival candidate in the contest.
