Soun remakes his hit film, Eda Onile Ola cries foul

Veteran filmmaker Lere Osunpaimo, also called Eda Onile Ola, is publicly calling for help. He says the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, is trying to remake his famous movie Ogbori Elemoso without permission. He named Governor Seyi Makinde and Pastor Enoch Adeboye as potential mediators.

Osunpaimo claims the monarch first discussed a remake with him, asking for a budget. After he proposed around one hundred million naira, talks stalled. Later, a group representing a studio visited his home, insisting they had the king's backing. They deposited a large sum he considered manipulative, so he returned it and sent a legal warning. The group allegedly dismissed his rights, saying the Oba's support overruled them.

The filmmaker links the film to his legacy, a national award, and a chieftaincy title. He feels this move is an attempt to erase his life's work. He asked for intervention from state authorities and the public, implying the parties involved might be connected to recent false rumors of his death. Efforts to get a comment from the palace were not successful.
