Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa Triumph at WTA Africa and Indian Ocean Awards

African nations dominated the 2025 World Travel Awards ceremony at Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam on June 28. Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa claimed top honors across more than 80 travel categories. The awards recognized excellence in tourism, destination development and service innovation. Zambia and Mozambique also earned key awards during the evening celebration. The ceremony opened the 2025 regional awards series that brings together tourism leaders worldwide.

Emboo Safari Camp from Kenya won gold for carbon-neutral operations and community engagement efforts. South Africa earned recognition for heritage preservation and youth empowerment programs through !Khwa ttu and Dlala Nje. Green Safaris from Zambia received awards for electric game drives and eco-friendly tourism practices. These winners showed Africa's commitment to sustainable travel and environmental protection. The awards highlighted both large projects and small grassroots ventures making meaningful differences.

The ceremony demonstrated Africa's ability to lead global tourism through innovation and adaptation. African countries continue building sustainable tourism infrastructure that attracts travelers seeking wildlife, culture and natural beauty. The continent serves as an example for eco-tourism and community-based travel worldwide. Winners advance to compete at the Grand Final on December 9 in Bahrain against international competitors. The final ceremony will bring together industry leaders, investors and media to celebrate travel's future.
