Rajshahi University officials confirmed that thirty-nine students secured hall council positions without facing opposition during recent campus elections. The university election commission made this announcement on Sunday, September 14. Begum Khaleda Zia Hall produced the highest number of uncontested winners with ten students, while Rahmatunnnesa Hall followed with nine successful candidates. July-36 Hall contributed seven winners, and Rokeya Hall added six more to the total count.
Three halls will operate with incomplete executive boards after receiving zero nomination papers for specific positions. Rokeya, July-36, and Rahmatunnnesa Halls each face one vacant executive role. Professor Setaur Rahman, the Chief Returning Officer, stated that these councils will maintain their operations despite missing members. He emphasized the necessity of eventually filling these empty positions.
Campus voter registration reached 28,905 students, with female participation at 11,305 and male enrollment at 17,596. Competition for remaining RUCSU positions attracted 248 candidates, while Senate races drew 58 hopefuls. Hall council contests generated interest from 600 students seeking various representative roles. The main RUCSU election will proceed on September 25.
