The government has told all news workers they must go to a required training at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi. Minister Balaam Barugahara shared this news at a meeting with media bosses at the Uganda Communications Commission office in Bugolobi, Kampala. He was passing on a message from Chief Of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba. At first news workers could not attend this meeting. The minister said President Museveni gave this order through the Chief of Defence forces. Mr Balaam said the training must finish before June 30. He stressed that media managers and editors need to act against bad content and make sure news is right and true. UCC Executive Director George William Nyombi Thembo told the media bosses that besides giving permits and making rules, the commission must keep the nation safe.
