Uganda makes more than twice as much milk today compared to seven years ago. The country produced 5.4 billion litres of milk during 2024. Back during 2017 and 2018, farmers only made 2.5 billion litres. President Museveni shared these numbers during his speech on Thursday. The dairy business brings Uganda much more money from exports than before.
Small farmers produce most of Uganda's milk across the country. These farmers raise cattle mainly around southwestern Uganda. Uganda exports butter, powdered milk, and yogurt to many different countries.
