Unemployed Man Arrested for Ministry Laptop Theft

Man Faces Court After Taking Laptop From Jobs Ministry.

A court in Accra sent Foster Nyarko to jail as he waited for his final punishment. He took a lawyer's laptop from the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.

Nyarko came to the office on December 4, 2024, hoping to find work as a cleaner. He said he was wrong when the court asked about going into the office without permission and taking the laptop, which was worth GHC24,750.

Judge Basilia Adjei-Tawiah agreed he did wrong based on what he said. She will tell him his punishment on February 27, 2025. The same court also found him guilty of taking a phone from someone who works at the Human Rights office.

Daniel Sakyi, the lawyer whose laptop was taken, works at the Jobs Ministry. Nyarko lives near Opera Square in Accra. The court heard that when Nyarko went to ask about work, people told him to talk to the person in charge of workers.

He went up to the second floor and walked into an empty office. This office belonged to the person who helps run office plans. No one was there at the time.

The HP laptop sat on the desk. Nyarko put it in his bag and left. It was worth GHC24,745. Police later found him. He told them he sold the laptop to someone he did not know in Takoradi.
