What is your opinion about Musvo Zimbabwe?

What do you make of the infamous website Musvo Zimbabwe which is somewhat a platform that proclaims to be watchdogs and whistle-blowers in the aspect of the current state of morality in relation to the Zimbabwean community both locally and in the diaspora?

The case of Musvo Zimbabwe is quite interesting because it can immediately fall into the category of revenge porn. But then how does one know for certain those musvo videos or musvo pics sent to them aren't marketing gimmicks used by people with the agenda to blow up in terms of popularity?

One can also look at Musvo Zimbabwe from the perspective to say the people behind Musvo Zimbabwe may have some sort of business model in which they generate revenue by uploading musvo videos or musvo images e.g. selling advertising space. In addition, the people who send musvo videos or musvo images to Musvo Zimbabwe may have arrangements with Musvo Zimbabwe, where they get paid. Chances are they could be sending those musvo videos for free.

@Borrowdale Barron, I have high doubts that Musvo Zimbabwe actually pays people to send them stuff. For instance, there have been scenarios about them uploading videos and screenshots taken from Facebook Groups. Now how does one get paid in that scenario, for something which may be widely available?

@Lenard, you must have been living underneath a rock, haven't you? I am talking about these Facebook groups:
  • Mandla's Lounge
  • Mvenge Mvenge Ezomgidho
  • Dandaro rePahushamwari Hwedu

@Borrowdale Barron, Mandla's Lounge - is more like an explicit environment that caters to the adult community. Dandaro rePahushamwari Hwedu - is a group for general discussions and nothing much. Mvenge Mvenge Ezomgidho - is also a group for general discussions except it advocates for free speech and things can get wild from time to time. It just depends on what's trending on the Zim gossip scene at the moment.

The thing is that people take screenshots from Mandla's Lounge and they send them to Musvo Zimbabwe. Sometimes those screenshots from Mandla's Lounge make it to Mvenge Mvenge Ezomgidho before they make it to Musvo Zimbabwe. In some scenarios, the screenshots from Mandla's Lounge are sent to various WhatsApp groups and they eventually end up hitting the inter-webs just like that.

@Lenard, well, yeah sometimes, but not all the time. The guy's name is Mandla Gumbo, he resides in the U.S., unless he has moved to a new location.

You are right on the money! ;)

But Facebook has its own community guidelines so perhaps the only way can are capable of circumventing those guidelines is by making it a closed group of which the host will be blocked by triggering Facebook AI algorithms. So next question - how does the host of the Facebook Live broadcast manage to keep this going? I would make another guess to say they are many hosts in that Mandla's Lounge group. :sneaky:

You seem to be well-informed about the nature of Facebook Live videos. Anyways, in a nutshell, most activities are about twerking, dirty talk, and striptease, and from time to time daredevils take things to the next level. :giggle:

What's the motive behind Mandla's Lounge? Do people actually get paid to do this? And what's the state of demographics like in that Facebook group?

The demographics are pretty much broad. As for the motive, it's basically people who describe themselves to be free-spirits. Most of the activity and content is generated by women though.

Free spirits... sounds about right. But from the way I see it, this is pretty much corporate pimping from Mandla's perspective because he is building a name behind user-generated content that markets his brand for free! No wonder the idea of them being free-spirits is more befitting.

Think about it, I have never heard of this guy Mandla Gumbo but due to whatever activity goes in that group, it gets people talking about him like I am doing right now. So Mandla Gumbo is playing chess while the rest of those guys are playing checkers. Watch this space...

That sounds interesting because that may be the actual reason people take screenshots from Mandla's Lounge group and share those screenshots as a means to bring him down by making sure people will quickly try to apply their moral compass on Mandla Gumbo and the rest of the participants. As for Mandla Gumbo being a corporate pimp, I don't really agree with that viewpoint because it's not like he is forcing any participants to do anything they otherwise wouldn't do.

Welp, just by doing simple research I have been informed that Mandla Gumbo had a falling out with Shorai so how do you explain such a situation given that the informant suggests Shorai was actually part of Mandla's Lounge who exposed herself and regretted the move because her son obliged she shouldn't be part of that group or whatever.

The word on the street from what I have gathered is that after the fact, Shorai did a live video with Baracuss (I am not sure if that's his real name) explaining what actually happened on that particular day but that's the word on the street. I can't really bank too much on it.
