President Mahama welcomed new military chiefs to the Armed Forces Council during a ceremony at the Defense Ministry on Thursday. The group met right after to discuss promotions for soldiers. Major General William Agyapong leads as Chief of Defence Staff, with Major General Lawrence Gbetanu running the Army. Rear Admiral Godwin Bessing heads the Navy, and Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong directs the Air Force. The president asked these officers to show discipline as they protect Ghana.
