Nintendo Switch 2 Splatoon 3 Upgrade Delivers 4K Resolution and Major Performance Boost

Nintendo Switch 2 delivers major performance gains for Splatoon 3 compared to the original system. Digital Foundry experts tested several first-party games on the new console over the weekend. The team examined titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda games to measure improvements. Most games showed modest upgrades on the newer hardware. Splatoon 3 demonstrated the most dramatic changes of all tested titles.

The shooting game jumps from dynamic 1080p to full 4K resolution when docked to a television. Some scenes display five or six times sharper picture quality on the upgraded console. One example shows resolution climbing from 864p on the old system to 2160p on the new device. The city hub area maintains steady 60 frames per second performance throughout gameplay. All game modes run smoothly at the higher frame rate.

Portable play offers smaller but noticeable improvements for handheld users. The original Switch already performed well for mobile gaming sessions. The new system delivers 1080p resolution at consistent 60 frames per second. This beats the older model's changing 720p output during portable sessions. Performance stays locked at the higher settings during handheld use.

Nintendo Switch 2 uses its extra power to enhance many popular games from the previous generation. Unmodified games receive automatic performance boosts through the stronger processor. The console represents a major upgrade over its predecessor across most features. Digital Foundry praised the system's overall improvements beyond just the display screen. Nintendo Switch 2 launched globally for consumers worldwide.
