Police nab robbery suspects near Asankrangwa

Police arrested two men suspected of planning a robbery near Asankrangwa in the Western Region. The suspects, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, 28, and Karim Yakubu, 42, were hiding in bushes along a road when they spotted a patrol team. They ran away, leading officers on a chase to an abandoned mining site where they jumped into a muddy pit. Officers pulled them out of the pit and took them into custody. Police found a shotgun, three AAA cartridges, and a Nokia phone during the arrest.

The Western Central Regional Police Command caught the men during a routine patrol operation. Abdul-Salam and Yakubu tried to escape when they noticed the officers approaching their hiding spot. Their desperate attempt to avoid capture by leaping into mud failed as police managed to retrieve them safely. The items discovered with the suspects were collected as evidence for the investigation. Both men remain in police custody, helping with investigations as authorities continue their work to keep the region safe.
