Zimbabwe to Host Global Disabled Empowerment Office

Zimbabwe will host the development office for the Disabled People's International Organisation. Joshua Malinga shared this news after he became head of the development section at a Singapore summit last year. He also chairs the National Council of Disabled Persons of Zimbabwe. The main goal is to help disabled people become economically self-reliant. His team wants to fight discrimination against disabled individuals.

Malinga pointed out that public perception remains a major challenge. Many people wrongly view those with disabilities as unable to care for themselves. He quit his position as senior tax collector to manage the new office in Bulawayo. The office will organize training programs and self-reliance projects for disabled people worldwide. Malinga believes full-time commitment will bring positive results for the cause.

Disability rights have advanced in Zimbabwe through national policies and programs like the African Disability Protocol Implementation. These efforts aim to include disability rights across all development areas. People with disabilities contribute to various sectors through advocacy and participation in national initiatives. Events such as the National Disability Expo showcase their abilities and contributions. Their involvement helps build a fair society for everyone.
