A Gateway bus crashed Sunday morning and injured 11 people. The accident happened at 6:10 am near Rwabahazi village on the Ntungamo-Kabale road. The Scania bus was traveling from Kampala to Kabale when disaster struck. Driver Karim Balabye could not make a sharp turn safely. The bus hit a woman walking on the road.
Dafuroza Rwakinda was the pedestrian who got struck. The bus went off the road after hitting her. It crashed into a ditch and flipped over completely. Ten passengers suffered injuries from the crash. The driver also got hurt during the accident.
Hospital workers treated the victims at two different places. Kabale regional referral hospital received the most serious cases. ROTOM Health Centre took care of other injured people. Police spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the accident details. Officers moved the damaged bus to the Muhanga police station.
