Muhoozi fanboys at Mao shrine in Shaoshan, China

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba paid respects at the birthplace of Mao Zedong during his official visit to China. The Ugandan defense chief laid a wreath and bowed before a bronze statue at Shaoshan Village in Hunan Province, where the Chinese revolutionary leader was born in 1893. Mao founded the People's Republic of China and governed the nation from 1949 until his death in 1976, transforming the country through major reforms and industrialization. The ceremonial visit highlights the strong bonds between Uganda and China, with President Museveni frequently citing Mao as an inspirational figure in his public addresses. This tribute forms part of broader defense cooperation talks that build upon the 38-year strategic partnership between both nations.
