I am pretty sure there is a set of unspoken rules in the music industry. What would y'all list as the unwritten music business rules that shouldn't be violated?

You mean just in general right?

You mean just in general right?
Yeah, whichever way.

I'd list the unwritten rules of the music business as:
  • Almost all A-list artists are carefully chosen coupled with an appropriate kill-switch.
  • Almost all music award shows are a resemblance of political elections polls.
  • Some rumors are true -- if you see something it should still remain a conspiracy.
  • You may not publicly or privately discuss another artist, record producer or music executive's sexuality.
  • Your own manager can spy on you and that's just part of the music industry's intelligence.
  • You may want to avoid pillow-talking -- groupies are valuable strategic assets too.
  • You may not continuously record and produce political records without being granted prior permission.
  • No artist, record producer or songwriter is bigger than life. The industry can devour it's own like Saturn.
  • Some industry parties and events are blackmail operations, be careful what you do there.

I don't think many people have the ability to do that.

They can always learn to mind the business that pays them. If not they will fumble the bag in ways where there won't be any chance of recovering.

This is the rule every aspiring singer and songwriter should know by heart.

Can you explain what this line means in layman's terms?

Can you explain what this line means in layman's terms?
Saturn is basically the Greek mythology Titan called "Cronus" who munches his own offspring because he intends to remain in-charge without being deposed.

So just because the industry can pluck starts from thin air doesn't mean it won't turn them into dust whenever it finds it necessary.

Can you explain what this line means in layman's terms?
It means the same way they build you up, is the same way they will break you down.

In the record business like any other business you can think of, there has to be a loser. It is what it is.
