Ghana Buzz Naana vs Bawumia 2028 Face Off

A new study shows voters want Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to face off during 2028 elections. GIMPA and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung asked 16,988 people from all regions about their voting choices. Most people surveyed work as traders, artisans and farmers. The research looked at how people voted during 2024 and who they prefer for future races.

NDC supporters picked Opoku-Agyemang as their top choice with 35.5 percent support. Haruna Iddrisu came second with 14.9 percent backing from party members. Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa earned 10.2 percent support from those asked. About 25.6 percent of NDC voters said they need more time to decide who should run.

NPP members strongly favor Bawumia with 49.3 percent wanting him as their candidate. Kennedy Agyapong trails behind with 24.6 percent support from party faithful. Other NPP politicians received much smaller backing from those surveyed. Around 21 percent of NPP supporters remain undecided about their 2028 preference.

Researchers found that 73 percent of voters chose candidates based on party promises during 2024. About 46.2 percent picked their favorites because they liked the person running. Political experts say voters care more about specific issues rather than blind party loyalty.
