Uganda People's Defence Forces chief Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba honored retired Brig Gen Ali Nasuru Izaga as a foundational figure in establishing security across West Nile during funeral services in Jabala Village, Yumbe District. Maj Gen Dick Olum delivered the tribute message while representing the defense forces leadership at the burial ceremony attended by military commanders, legislators, religious officials and community representatives.
Izaga enlisted in the Uganda Army and maintained service in multiple command positions spanning several decades following his recruitment. Family representative Apangu Ali acknowledged support from President Yoweri Museveni and senior military leadership throughout the officer's career and following his passing. Retired Gen Kale Kayihura characterized the deceased officer as a mentor whose influence shaped numerous individuals who later assumed responsibilities within defense institutions and civilian sectors across the region.
