What is the British equivalent of the CIA?

It's the SIS or MI6 ("Military Intelligence 6") because the CIA is an excellent analogy for what MI6 does. But the MI5 ("Military Intelligence 5") is focused mostly on domestic security. You know things like counter-espionage and terrorism.

And also the NSA (National Security Agency) is more like the GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I am just asking out of curiosity.

So which one is more powerful?

Well, the thing is both the CIA and MI6 actually work together in what they call the Five-Eyes Alliance.

It's definitely a synergy to reckon with.

Which also includes:
  • the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO)
  • New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS)
  • Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)
  • etc.
