What is the best free DAW?

What would y'all recommend as the best free DAW that has an easy learning curve?

There are a couple of free DAWS which are good for music production and you can decide for yourself between:

• PreSonus Studio One Prime
• Avid Pro Tools First
• Cakewalk by BandLab

Of course, there are many other free music production software programs and to be honest they kinda suck compared to the ones I have listed above.

Presonus Studio One Prime has a simple to use workflow and the GUI (graphical user interface) is easy on the eyes too.

No, I prefer PreSonus Studio One.

It works just fine — I don't see the point of using Avid's Pro Tools when pretty much Studio One has got all angles covered.

Free DAWS don't offer much though.

It's just better to buy the whole music software program at least starting with the lite versions e.g. PreSonus Studio One Artist, Steinberg's Cubase Artist, or Image-Line's FL Studio Producer Edition, etc.

Yeah, you are right about that but some people especially newbies would still want to test out various free audio production software and see what makes them feel at home.

The most comprehensive free DAW is Bandlab.

I don't use it, but I tried it out for a while and it has everything you could need. All the other music production programs mentioned are free, cut-down versions with limitations. If you are learning then it makes sense to go with one of those.

Bottom line: Yes it's okay for beats or instrumentals. Apple Logic Pro and Pro Tools are way better at recording vocals live instruments and mixing sessions.

There's no best music production software. Each has its own specialty.
